Service Objectives
To build and develop the economic and social potential of people with disabilities by providing them with a suitable environment and opportunities to participate in subsidized vocational training, so that they can gradually adapt to the general work requirements and then join the open employment market for self-reliance.
Services Contents
- Vocational training, including laundry, transportation, retail, car wash, catering, delivery, cleaning, packaging, floral and handicraft, etc. (participation in the above jobs/training programs will be arranged according to the ability and desire of the trainees to enhance their job skills and interests)
- Provide different kinds of subsidized training opportunities
- Assessing service users’ working ability, habit, attitude and motivation
- Provide on-the-job counseling and follow-up services
- Individual counseling and referral services
- Group work (including social and educational)
- Parent support work and activities, etc.
Service Target
- Disabled persons aged 15-60
- Mentally and emotionally stable and free of infectious diseases as certified by doctors and related professionals
- No violent tendencies or serious harassing behaviors
- Have the ability to take care of themselves and comply with the rules and regulations; and have the basic working ability and motivation, willing to participate in and benefit from the vocational training provided
- Have received comprehensive vocational rehabilitation services at the Center and have been successfully employed, and can return to service within three years
Application of Services
Integrated Vocational Rehabilitation Services
- Applications can be submitted to the Social Welfare Department, Family Service Centers, Medical Social Work Department, special school social workers, or other rehabilitation agencies.
Supported Employment Service
- Self-application.
- Referrals can be made by social workers or staff of rehabilitation units to the Central Referral System for Rehabilitation Services of the Social Welfare Department.
Vocational Rehabilitation Extension Programme
- Cases are accepted by the unit directly.
Withdrawal of Services
Integrated Vocational Rehabilitation Service
- Service users or their family members/guardians can apply to the Center as necessary, and then formally withdraw from the service after the identification process.
Supported Employment Service
- During the service period, the service user can withdraw from the service voluntarily, and the service can be formally withdrawn once the service user has been seen and processed.
- If the service user is already in stable open employment or is not suitable for open employment, exit service will be arranged.
Vocational Rehabilitation Extension Program
- Service users or their family members/guardians can request voluntary withdrawal from the service and can formally withdraw from the service after going through the formalities.
- If the service user is not suitable to continue receiving the service, the participant will be withdrawn from the service.
