Visiting Medical Practitioner Service for Residential Care Homes
Service Objectives
Our Service aims at providing Visiting Medical Practitioner Service to the residents of private and self-financing Residential Care Homes for the Elderly (RCHEs) and Residential Care Homes for Persons with Disabilities (RCHDs). Specific objectives include:
- Providing free on-site primary medical care and support to the residents of all private and self-financing RCHEs and RCHDs;
- Promoting proactive management of seasonal influenza and other episodic illnesses for improvement of the general health of the residents; and
- To reduce the reliance of the residents of RCHEs and RCHDs on the public healthcare system.
Service Contents
- Providing on-site medical treatment of episodic illness and sub-acute problems of the Service Users and medicine delivery service.
- Providing regular assessment and review on the health conditions and care needs for residents in RCHEs and RCHDs.
- Delivering talks and training for the staff of Residential Care Homes on health care and infection control.

Application of Services
- Call our Service Centre to contact our staff. Upon appointment, Service Manager will communicate with the person in charge of the RCHE and RCHD and arrange the date of service delivery.
- Resident can register with the staff in RCHE and RCHD directly.
Withdrawal of Services
- The private and self-financing RCHE and RCHD close, withdraw or move to another district, or
- The service user is discharged from the private and self-financing RCHE and RCHD due to various reasons, e.g. admission into sub vented residential care service and home restoration, etc.
Fee
Free of charge (Funded by the Social Welfare Department)
Opening Hours
Mondays to Saturdays: 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Lunch Hour: 1pm to 2pm
(Closed on Sundays & Public Holidays)
