Service Objectives
Our Centre consists of two service teams – the Kowloon City District Outreaching Social Service Team and the Kowloon City District Outreaching Social Service Team for Young Night Drifters.
In 2002, Social Welfare Department reorganized the youth services at district level, and established a district outreaching social service team in each district. Our Agency was approved to operate the district outreaching social service team for the Kowloon City District, and in September 2002, the ‘Kowloon City District Outreaching Social Service Team’ was established.
In 2001, SWD had also established district outreaching social service teams for young night drifters in each district, and as a result, the ‘Kowloon City District Outreaching Social Service Team for Young Night Drifters’ was established in November 2001.
To enable the outreaching service teams to work efficiently, we have combined the two teams in October, 2002, to form the ‘Kowloon City District Youth Outreaching Social Service Centre’ to provide both day- and night-time youth outreaching social service from one base.
Our Centre is staffed primarily by professional social workers. Through adopting a variety of professional skills, reaching out to young people from different levels, and providing different opportunities and support, we seek to help young people use experiential learning to grow and develop, and to become happy, confident and mature members of society.
- Provide support and counseling for disadvantaged youths;
- Concern for the development of young people, assist them in gaining self-awareness, in learning to handle developmental and emotional problems, in building positive life values and developing potential, and in building harmonious interpersonal and family relationships.
