Community Health Pilot Project in Tsuen Wan (Summary)

Service Objectives

To adopt a variety of health intervention methods to drive public health behaviors, raise awareness of disease prevention and facilitate early identification of health risks.

Service period: August to December 2021

Statistical Results

A total of 467 people received health risk assessment during the service period, and more than 50% of them were under the age of 65 (245 people). Of these, 111 had health risks associated with hypertension or diabetes without taking any health measures. In total, the project recommended 23.8% of participants to receive screening for hypertension or diabetes.

In addition, in terms of BMI and central obesity index, it was found that non-Chinese speaking people (such as South Asians, Filipino and Indonesian foreign domestic helpers, etc.) had a higher proportion of overweight and central obesity than Chinese-speaking people.

Follow-up Actions after Health Risk Assessment

  1. Provided relevant medical information for people with abnormal health conditions.
  2. Distributed pamphlets on different health topics to raise public awareness of health management.
  3. Followed up the treatment status of people with abnormal health conditions by phone and provided real-time support.
