Independent Living Project

Service Objectives

  1. Enhance the independent living skills of persons with intellectual disabilities, enabling them to make their own life choices.
  2. Expand the social circles of residents, increase their community awareness, and assist them in integrating into the community and establishing friendships with community members.
  3. The ultimate goal is to help residents live independently or more independently in the community or at home. Encourage and support residents with independent living skills to leave the “Independent Living Program” and live independently in the community or return to live at home.

Service Content

  • “Comprehensive Residential Course” for Independent Living
  • “Short-term Residential Course” for Independent Living
  • “Experiential Residential Course” for Independent Living
  • “Day-time Course” for Independent Living

Service target

Persons aged 15 or above with moderate or mild mental disabilities who are in open employment or are receiving daytime rehabilitation services, and who hope to improve their independent living knowledge and skills.

Service area

The program will provide eight key areas of independent living skills training based on the needs of the residents:

  1. Home management
  2. Life management
  3. Financial management
  4. Nutrition and healthcare management
  5. Community Participation
  6. Interpersonal relationships, personal & family responsibilities
  7. Self development
  8. Crisis management

Application

  • Please contact the ILP Registration office
  • May be referred by social workers from various Medical Social Service Unit, Integrated Family Service Centers, special schools, or rehabilitation service providers.

Withdraw Services

The service user can voluntarily withdraw from the service. If the service user decides to exit the service midway, the unit director must contact the service user’s family members to understand the reason for the withdrawal, and this must be recorded.

Service Charges

  1. Experiential Residential Course: One week/fortnight/one month ($230/day – Including 2 meals a day: breakfast and dinner)
  2. Short-term Residential Course: Three months (Large room $5,560; Double room $6,030/month – Including 2 meals a day: breakfast and dinner, and miscellaneous expenses)
  3. Comprehensive Residential Course: half a year to 2 years (Large room $5,560; Double room $6,030/month – Including 2 meals a day: breakfast and dinner, and miscellaneous expenses)
