Service Objectives
- To provide residential care and facilities for semi-independent living;
- To enhance residents’ independent living skills and facilitate their integration into the community; and
- To promote the quality of life of the residents and to maximize their potentials through the provision of a supportive and stimulating environment.
Service Contents
- Delivery of services with service model of “V-RICH”: enhancement of independent living abilities with implementation of individual care plans
- Provision of accommodation, food and meals;
- Residential respite service;
- Support of family members;
- Community participation and social inclusion activities;
- Visiting medical practitioner scheme (VMPS);
- Agency-based speech therapy services;
- Support service to discharged service users;
Service Target
The target group for SHOS is persons with disabilities aged 15 or above, with a
need for accommodation for social reasons, who can manage semi-independent living.

No regional requirement for applicants
Application of Services
- Supported Hostel: Referrals can be made by social workers and staff of rehabilitation service units to the Central Referral System for Rehabilitation Services of the Social Welfare Department.
- Respite Service: referral from rehabilitation services, medical social work services, integrated family service centres, special schools.
Withdrawal of Services
Hostel staff would meet with service users and their family members and documents follow up.
Fee
- $897 per month for 50% disabled adults;
- $977 per month for 100% disabled adults / Disability Allowance recipients.
