Social Work Services in Pre-primary Institutions (Tai Po and North District)

Service objectives

  1. School children services

Early identify and intervene the potential crisis for pre-primary children and their families; raise the awareness of child protection

 

  1. Family services

Enhance parental skills, facilitate parent-child communication and build up positive parent-child relationships

 

  1. School personnel services

Support the school personnel to identify the needy children and families

Service Contents

  1. Case counselling
    • early identification and crisis intervention;
    • Support the pre-primary children and their families to cope with learning/emotional/behavioral/family/social welfare issues
  1. Group counselling and workshops
    • Promote personal growth and fulfil psycho-social needs through group counselling regarding to emotions, positive psychology and resilience, morality, self-esteem, self-confidence and interpersonal skills etc;
    • Organize diverse parent developmental group to enhance parenting skills such as positive parenting skills, emotion management and communication skills etc.
  2. Parent support
    • build mutual support platform;
    • enhance parent social support network;
    • parent education for forming positive parent[1]child interaction
  3. School personnel support
    • Raise the school personnels’ awareness in early identification of the potential crisis for the needy pre-primary children and their families
  4. School support
    • All round support on handling crisis;
    • Professional support and consultation regarding to the effectiveness in handling crisis at school

Service Target

pre-primary children and their families, school personnels attending aided/subsidized PPIs [including Child Care Centres (CCCs), kindergartens (KGs) and KG-cum-CCCs having joined this services

Service Boundaries

Tai Po and North District

 

Application of services:

  • self-approach, outreaching by school social workers, internal and external referral by pre-primary institutions and NGOs respectively

Withdrawal of services

  • Service goals achieved; or
  • Leaving pre-primary institutions for promotion; or
  • Leaving existing pre-primary institutions to another; or
  • Referred to another service providers; or
  • Self-withdrawal

Free of charge

Opening hours

Monday to Friday: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (Lunch time: 1:00 p.m. – 2:00p.m.)

Others: based on service coordination (Closed on Sunday and Public Holidays)
