Social Work Services in Pre-primary Institutions

Service Objectives

1. School children services
Enhance school children’s self-confidence and problem-solving skills, develop social skills and cultivate virtue. Provide appropriate counselling services to support school children’s with different needs.
2. Family services
Advocate parents’ involvement in their children’s upbringing and in creating a nurturing environment. We provide the Tailor-made programs to the different families to improve their parenting skills.
3. School staff services
Provide appropriate support and training for staff members, work with the schools to identify and support children’s in need and their families and make referrals if appropriate.

Service Contents

1. Case counselling
    • Early identification of the potential crisis in school children’s;
    • Support school children’s and their families in dealing with study/emotional/behavioral/family issues.
2. Group counselling and workshops
    • Establish school children’s personal growth, learning and psychological needs through counselling groups such as emotions, positive psychology and resilience, character, self-esteem, self-confidence and interpersonal groups etc;
    • Organize a variety of parent-oriented development groups for school children’s families to enhance parenting skills such as positive parenting skills, emotional management and communication skills etc.
3. Parent support
    • Establish the parent consultation platform to support the needs of school children and their families;
    • Establish parent support network;
    • Strengthen parenting education to enhance parental skills, and help parents to build up the positive parenting relationships with their children.
4. School staff training
    • Enhance the awareness in early identification of the potential crisis in school children’s;
    • Enhance staff members’ awareness of their own physical and mental well-being as well as increase the cohesiveness and sense of belonging among staff team members.
5. School support
    • Assist the schools in identifying and handling the crisis in school children;
    • Support the school or the relevant teams with professional advices to improve the effectiveness of handling the crisis in school.

Service Target

School children’s, parents or caregivers and their family members and staffs at Kindergartens or Nurseries school.

Service Boundaries

The Kindergartens or Nurseries school which join in the Social Work Services in Pre-primary Institutions.

Application of Services

Application methods can be applied by self-application, the invitation from the Kindergarten social workers, school internal referral or the external referral from other agencies.

Withdrawal of Services

  1. The service needs of the children or family have been fulfilled and intervention goals have been achieved, or promotion to primary schools or change schools.
  2. School children are no longer attending kindergartens or nurseries school participating in services, or referrals to other suitable social institutions after intervention by Kindergarten social workers;
  3. The service user has terminated the service for personal reasons.

Opening Hours

Monday to Friday: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (Lunch time: 1:00 p.m. – 2:00p.m.)
Closed on Sunday and Public Holidays
