Child Development Fund

Service Objectives

Teen’s Walk and U Project

On January 1st, 2014, our Agency has received the support of the Labour and Social Welfare Bureau to run Child Development Fund sponsored Teen’s Walk and U Project for young people from the Kowloon City and Yau Tsim Mong districts for the fourth time. The project will continue until the end of 2016.

We will mobilize over 50 capable and well-meaning volunteers to become mentors for children from low-income families: children with disabilities; children from ethnic minorities, and local born children as well as for their parents. The goal is to encourage these children to learn to plan for their future while they are young, and to develop positive life perspectives, thereby helping them in the long run to overcome the problems arising from cross generational poverty.

Service Contents

Six of our service units have collaborated in this project. They include the Mongkok Integrated Family Service Centre, the Homantin Integrated Centre for Youth Development; the Yau Tsim Mong Integrated Service Centre for Youth Development, the Yau Tsim Mong Family Education and Support Centre, the Family Health Education and Counselling Centre and the Service Planning and Development Division.

An Opening Ceremony for the Project was organized on February 22nd, 2014, with Mr. Fung Man-lok, Assistant Director (Youth and Corrections), SWD as our Guest of Honour, providing much encouragement and support for the mentors and young participants to work towards a better life in future.
